Saw Creek Estates Earns Top Award- Association of the Year

The Regional Northeastern Pennsylvania Chapter of the Community Associations Institute named Saw Creek Estates the Community Association of the Year in the Large Community Category at its annual awards presentation held at Lake Naomi Club. The award recognized the community and its members for their exhaustive work in reaching a transition settlement with the developer. The settlement was the culmination of a five-year process and represents one of the most comprehensive, non-judicial transition agreements ever negotiated in the Poconos region and is certainly as complex as any other – perhaps in the nation.

Saw Creek Estates Receives Award for Energy Reduction Measures

The International Facilities Management Association (IFMA) presented an award to Saw Creek Estates Community Association for its successful efforts to improve energy efficiency. After completing a community-wide study of energy consumption, Mr. Thomas Dillon, Saw Creek’s Director of Facilities and an IFMA member, managed a number of projects to reduce energy consumption. These included replacement of all interior and exterior lighting with new LED and compact fluorescent technology as well as upgrading HVAC and pool heating systems with new, modern high-efficiency equipment. The community has realized a major reduction in energy related expenses and expects the projects will pay dividends to its members in the form of cost avoidance well into the future.

Saw Creek Donation to The Pocono Environmental Education Center

Saw Creek Estates recently made a generous donation to The Pocono Environmental Education Center (PEEC). Saw Creek supported PEEC by hosting various fundraising events including: a “Pampering for PEEC” event, a 1920’s gala, two yard sales, and numerous raffles. All of Saw Creek’s departments, committees, and clubs, and many volunteers participated in raising $2,184.26. Jeff Rosalsky, Executive Director of PEEC, commented, “It is wonderful to see communities like Saw Creek supporting local non-profits like PEEC. Our environmental education programs for children and adults rely on community participation and financial support.”

PEEC’s mission is to advance environmental education, sustainable living, and appreciation for nature through hands-on experience in a national park. PEEC provides unique, year-round environmental experiences to families, school groups, scouts, and nature enthusiasts of all ages. The environmental center is located near mile marker 8, within the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, in Dingmans Ferry, PA (Lehman Township). Bushkill/Smithfields Lions Club Recognizes Saw Creek Estates

The Bushkill/Smithfields chapter of the Lions Club presented a plaque to Saw Creek Estates inscribed with the words, “In Grateful Recognition for Your Contributions to Our Club And Our Community.” Saw Creek has supported the local Lions Club through community member participation, complimentary use of its meeting rooms and facilities.

Peter Derrenbacher Wins Outstanding Board Member Leadership Award

CAI's Community Association Volunteers Committee is proud to announce the recipients for the Outstanding Board Member Leadership Award. More than 150 nominations were received from across the nation! This year's volunteers were nominated by their community associations, colleagues, clients, and acquaintances as homeowners who go above and beyond to serve their communities. The committee recognized seven award winners at the CAI Annual Conference & Exposition in Las Vegas, NV, including Peter Derrenbacher from Saw Creek Estates Community Association, Inc. in Bushkill, PA, a member of the CAI Pennsylvania & Delaware Valley Chapter.

Saw Creek Estates Among Top 50 Employers in Pike County, Pennsylvania

According to a PA Department of Labor & Industry report on employment in Pike County, Saw Creek Estates ranked #13 on a list of the Top 50 Employers in Pike County during the 2nd quarter of 2017.

Residents and members from two of their Relay For Life teams, Team Believers/Colleen Angels and Gone Fish'n, hosted a sold-out Angel Ball at Saw Creek’s Top of the World restaurant.

Saw Creek's Angel Ball nets $10K for American Cancer Society

The American Cancer Society was presented a check by Chris Irwin, president of the Saw Creek Estates Board of Directors, for $10,410, twice the goal of the community. The silent auction included 29 items from two 8-day/7-night stays at Disneyworld in Orlando to a romantic get-a-way at various bed and breakfast establishments.
"While we know how generous our neighbors and friends are, we could have never expected them to give at this level.

Hopefully these will be the dollars that cure cancer forever," said Kathi Connell, Angel Ball event chair.

Event organizer Paul Dudek said, "Since 2003, our residents have supported the Relay For Life of Bushkill by raising over $55,000 to fight back against cancer. Together, with the American Cancer Society, we will achieve victory over cancer.

An Official U.S. Census Designated Place, Saw Creek Estates Ranks High in Diversity and Median Household Income.

The U.S. Census Bureau reports that Saw Creek Estates is among the most diverse communities in the state of Pennsylvania. The community is more diverse than 99% of all the 1,761 other cities, towns and CDP’s in the state. Saw Creek Estates also ranks high (80th percentile) in terms of median household income. The population of Saw Creek Estates was 3,768 as of December 2017 according to the Bureau.
