Saw Creek Men's Club

Now in its 23rd year, the Men's Club stays active with both civic and social activities. Invitation to the men's club is extended to men who are at least 21 years old and current or former members of Saw Creek Estates, the Falls Community, or Mill Pond.

The civic functions of the Men’s Club are varied and numerous. Each year the club conducts a scholarship drive to help local high school graduates cover their first-year college expenses. Also, the club provides the barbecue at the community’s summer picnic. Men’s club members actively participate in seasonal cleanups, various blood drives, food pantries, and other community functions. During the holiday season, the club donates to local charities and civic service groups within Saw Creek Estates and the broader Bushkill community.

Men’s Club social meetups occur both within and outside of Saw Creek Estates. Each month, the club holds its business meeting at the Top of the World complex. It holds seasonal dinner events at the restaurant (Oktoberfest, Beef and Beer, Saint Patrick’s, etc.) On a quarterly basis, the club participates in luncheon shows and concerts throughout NEPA. Twice a year, the club provides spectator sports outings for the whole family — to Penguin hockey in winter and IronPigs baseball in summer.

Opportunities to stay physically active are numerous. Club members participate in 3-season twice-a-week hikes along McDade Trail and elsewhere in DWGNRA. The big event each July is the summer golf outing at Pocono Hills (non-members welcome). Also during three seasons, members may meet up for semi-weekly golf.

The Saw Creek Men's Club meets the first Thursday of every month in the TOW Mountain Room at 6:00 PM sharp followed by refreshments in the restaurant. For more information about the Men’s Club, inquire by email to SCEMCB@aol.com or visit a meeting.

Saw Creek Women's Club

The members of the Saw Creek Women's Club would love to have you as a new member. The Women's Club was begun in the 1980's by a small group of women who wanted a place to go and meet new women who were moving into our community. It was an immediate success and our club has remained strong and active ever since.

We are basically a social organization, but our reach is so much more than that. We also send monetary donations to several local charities annually. This is in addition to our individual members who give of themselves to our community on a personal level. Included in this outreach, provided by an individual benefactor, we provide the yearly $1,000 Dolores Danielson Memorial Scholarship to a local female high school student pursuing education as her major. So you can see, we definitely enhance our community too.

We meet the first Thursday of each month (except July and August) in the Top of the World Mountain Room at 12:20 pm for a light lunch and to socialize, followed by a business meeting at 1:15 pm. At the meeting we discuss our plans for getting together during the remainder of the month. We might go see a play, go bowling, arrange hikes, go shopping, tour historical sites and of course always out to lunch before or after. Activities planned throughout the year by our Vice President might include a bus trip to a festival or wineries, a Tricky Tray or miniature golf, and trips to NYC, Philadelphia or Bucks County.

Any way you look at it, we are all about fun and friendship. The Saw Creek Women's Club is a great starting point to get to know many women from Saw Creek and form friendships both in and outside of the club's activities. Join us as a guest at our next meeting. We look forward to meeting you! Just send an email to sawcreekwomensclub@gmail.com for more information.

Saw Creek Martial Arts Club

The Saw Creek Martial Arts Study Club is open to residents of Saw Creek Estates, the Falls Community, and Mill Pond. The Club welcomes any age or gender participant, at no cost.

Formed in May 2015, the Saw Creek Martial Arts Club is a free program available to community members in good standing and their families. We would like to expand the club to include new members. Originally consisting of 10 members, nine whom are Black Belts, our club has grown to over 40 members by the end of 2015.

The Black Belt Instructors teach Kyokushin, a traditional full-contact Japanese Martial Art discipline. In Japanese, Kyokushin is roughly translated as “The Ultimate Truth”. Rooted in traditional Martial Arts, the art emphasizes character development, such as self-improvement, hard training and developing a disciplined Warrior Spirit.

Kyokushin training consists of three main elements: Techniques, Forms and Sparing, referred to as the three K’s, after the Japanese words kihon (basics) kata (form), and kumite (sparring). Our instruction also includes building alertness, such as stranger danger, anit-bullying, the ability to neutralize aggressive behavior, strategies to deal with threats, such as weapons attacks, terrorism awareness, and fitness.

The Martial Arts Study Club meets at the Top of the World Fitness Center, specifically at the indoor Tennis Court weekly at 5:30 pm on Tuesday and Thursday. If you are interested in joining our club, please send us an email to sawcreekmartialarts@gmail.com or call us at 570-431-9774. We hope to see you there soon!
