The Pet Expo
When we picked a rain date for the 2nd Annual Pet Expo we never expected it to be above 90 degrees. But none the less everyone seemed to enjoy it, especially the furry ones. We had a wide arrangement of furry animals which included a few cats and Peggy Gottschau even brought her Guinea Pigs to the groomer from Top of the Mountain Doggie Spa to trim their nails.
I personally purchased a Paw Print stain glass from Pocono Moe Crafts that I thought was beautifully crafted. It was great to see our friends from Pet Valu in Stroudsburg that handed out sample dog food and other goodies. Mountain Creek Stables were on hand discussing riding horses at their two locations. It was especially nice to see a special guest, Catbury Park Tea House & Lounge, a cat café in Asbury Park. Also present was Kim, The Wine Glass Lady, Allyson’s Homemade Dog Biscuits and our very own Ann Marie Toto selling her beautiful Cat Earrings & Zipper Pulls. I was on hand answering many interesting questions regarding dog training, pet sitting and dog walking with University of Pets. I think what was most memorable was the tribute to for the love of Jane, a pet activist that once resided in Saw Creek Estates and now Joyce Bush founder of Mamma’s Paws and helping our cats here in our community.
The hot dogs and snow cones were a big hit that were sold by our very own recreation department to benefit the cause. It was in everyone’s best interest that we skipped the celebration walk and some other presentations that were planned. It was just to hot and human and furry ones were happy just chilling out at the event.
The most fun was the Foto Fun, selfie contest. I cannot wait to see my photos taken with my two Saint Bernards, that our professional photographer Marty took. This event was to raise awareness and funds for our TNR program here in Saw Creek Estates. The money raised is going to AWSOM, Animal Welfare Society of Monroe for their Wellness Center to do the Spay and Neuter for us. We appreciate AWSOM being at the event and selling their merchandise that helps all animals in our community have a better life. A special Thank you to Jessica Van Der Vliet, Member Services Director for her endless efforts to help all the animals in our community. Raffle prizes that were donated by our vendors as well as Animal Hospital of MT Pocono , Shawnee (Puppy Palooza) and Saw Creek Estates Saw Shop. Winning numbers will be listed on our website so check your tickets and our website. You maybe a lucky winner. Hopefully next year we will have cooler temperatures but just as much fun.
