PPL Helicopter at Saw Creek Estates

PPL overfliew our community on Thurdsay, February 18th 2010 in another of what they call " line inspections unrelated to the Susquehanna-Roseland Power-Line project". What we can tell you is this- these overflights used to happen once or twice a year at most. However, since PPL announced it's plan to build the power-line, these overflights have increased in frequency by an order of magnitude. Moreover- PPL has been directed by the PUC to give Saw Creek Estates ample time to warn our residents when these overflights would occur. For this particular flight, PPL contacted us a couple of weeks ago about an impending flight the following week, but it never happened, then lo and behold, they gave us an hours worth of warning before flying over yesterday! They will claim that " they never know what the flying weather is going to be like, so they can't warn us sooner " but what's really going on is that as usual, they are trying to keep a tight lid on this project from a Public Relations standpoint. I mean, if they didn't do that, someone might film their helicopters as they fly overhead or something.....

The point is this- the PUC, in their misguided and backwards decision granting PPL's application, has given PPL permission to use helicopters during the construction of the Susquehanna-Roseland power-line in Saw Creek Estates. Watch the video carefully- the helicopter you see is a little chopper designed for light work- not the gigantic two rotor construction helicopters PPL will be using to string cable and move tower sections in and out of position where terrain ( which is pretty mountainous in Saw Creek) prevents them from using trucks or cranes.

Lastly there's this.. crank up the volume on your PC while watching the video and you'll get a real sense of what type of hell our residents ( especially along the construction zone ) are going to go through while this power-line is being built! This project must be stopped... Stay Vigilant, and Stay informed!!
